A Rebel's Home Companion
A Journey Through Stability, Serenity, Strength, Service

About

A Rebel’s Home Companion recognizes the magnificence of each human being and offers full support as that spark of beauty rebels against everything that is belittling, demeaning and ugly. It is for each individual to stem the tide of tyranny that transforms the human being into the dehumanized servant of a brutal regime of thought and society. This is not the futile rebellion of violence, nor the shallow rebellion of the “fashion statement,” but is instead the profound journey through the stages of stability, serenity, strength and service - the stages through which the dissatisfied human becomes the rebel, the hero, the warrior, and finally the fully functioning being who serves the good of all Life. A Rebel’s Home Companion calls for and awakens courage, intelligence, kindness and clarity. A Rebel’s Home Companion is self-help and spirituality at a matured level: here at last is spirituality combined with philosophy, and self-help that is beyond selfishness. Written with the clarity of the sage, the bluntness of the zen master, the logic of the philosopher and the wit of the satirist, this book will surprise, delight, prod and encourage you from start to finish.

The world (of the material) seems "inside out and backwards" when reading "Rebels". True Reality is not!

"Rebels" is confounding yet true when one is "right-side-up". At once, Truth is revealed and gratitude wells up for the privilege of reading with a feeling of humility not far behind.

Every detail, from the geese, in disciplined obedience, flying through the pages to the poetry and finally the prose--the simplicity of speech--leads one onward to the recognition that the author has not said one thing of a personal nature but always refers to the "Whole".

What does this mean? No selfish motives, no ambition, no glamour! Why is this important? When pondering this question, all the old weights of "having to" begin to lift. The beginning of "freedom from" opens thinking like the petals of a flower and maybe, just maybe, the beginning of "freedom to" opens the awareness to immense possibilities not seen before. Hmmm!

"Rebels" makes one aware of one's selfishness. Almost every line demonstrates the importance to growth of looking at life from beyond oneself; hence, the reaction of selfishness comes up--"what's in it for me?"

What a refreshing picture because when one is aware of rising selfishness, the opportunity to examine it exists. One would ask "why does selfishness and resentment come up?" The Light is now on! One now has the opportunity to realize that the author has reminded us of our greatness. We have but to drop the illusion of selfishness and embrace life as it is meant to be lived.

Ego will not like this. Ego will demand that the book be disregarded and "cast upon the shelf" but the Light is now on and if we are wise, "Rebels" will become sustenance for our daily living.

It promises nothing but gives all to those who really want to see.

Respectfully submitted.
